Fyi putting something in quotes means you’re being sarcastic. The added /s makes no sense.

No it doesn’t. It means that you are quoting someone, as the name of the characters implies.

Which is btw what the other poster was doing, quoting what the generic conservative person says when confronted. Kinda strawman-y but w/e, it’s for fun.

Anyone remember the freakout over fentanyl in Halloween candy? That hysteria reminded me of when D.A.R.E. had is convinced that kids would be offering us free drugs and forcing us to take them.

There’s been scaremongering about drugs in Halloween candy forever. Because kids definitely have money for drugs, so getting them hooked on them on a night where they don’t know which house they got the drugs from is a very good idea.

It’s always “slippery slope” that will lead to something terrible. Never something awful currently happening

What started it all was that a school which had already experienced a school shooting put buckets with sand in them in classrooms in case a student had to use the bathroom while they were locked down. Which is pretty fucking terrifying.

But conservatives instead got terrified that they were letting kids in middle school pretend to be cats.

Dude, I was arguing with some coworkers yesterday and they were ADAMANT that people need the right to run people over at a protest in their car in case they need “SeLf deFenSe” from the protestors. Because according to them, peaceful protests are ALWAYS riots and they’re always out to get you, pull you out of your car, and beat you.

It’s so very true, constantly creating boogeymen to whip up their base into a froth. In my area for months parents repeating things they hear about kids who identify as cats being provided litter boxes to pee in at school. Never once happened, it isn’t a thing.

This approach has been followed over and over again, and it works so well to motivate those voters.
