Disney is removing original content from its streaming platforms to cut spending on residual payments to writers and actors. The company is also claiming the purge will result in $1.5 billion in losses — which could amount to a substantial tax break.
This is getting to be a trend.
Looks like they’re trying to optimize offering as little content as possible while retaining as many subscribers as possible. I know the term is usually applied to platforms of a different nature, but it does feel like the usual march towards enshittification.
