Uber, Lyft pay $328 million for “cheating drivers” out of earnings, NY says::Wrong deductions “withheld hard-earned pay from drivers,” NY AG says.
At least in the UK Supreme Court ruled that uber drivers are not self-employed and thus have all the normal protections you would expect. And it seems they have insurance for various things including for sickness or injury leading to more than 7 consecutive days of inability to work.
In the US, probably more along the lines of just don’t get sick.
