I don’t understand how he’s a priority vs other positions and then yes, giving Chelsea any money, let alone that much when it allows them to meet FFP and also buy players that we want seems like a horrific plan.
I think he’s looked at as a Xhaka upgrade rather than as a 9, which would make sense both on why we cooled on Caicedo and why we want him when Balogun and Eddie exist. Personally think he’d be good in any of our front 5 spots except LW, and we need another backup for Saka even if Nelson extends. The Chelsea bit is my main problem with it, but if it works out I won’t protest too much.
This might be hopium, but maybe a lot of that is bonuses. For example, 45+15 I think would be a lot more reasonable if the clauses aren’t a formality, and I think most of us wouldn’t be too angry about that.
Reports are 55+10 iirc, which feels like a bit much
