    It’s why as a company you don’t blink when the right tries to face you down on these issues. You don’t give them a toe-hold to build on.

    When Target kind of floundered and backtracked after the initial round of threats about their pride display, the GOP saw weakness and an opportunity to double down. Similar to what happened with Bud Light and their tepid response to the Mulvaney thing.

    When you just take a principled stand and stick to it, the bigots will wear themselves out eventually, there’s nothing they can do outside of committing literal terrorism. But when you shrink back they take that as a tacit admission that their bullying works.

      That makes sense. I think Bud Light had a broader problem than Target, but I agree that their retreat wasn’t a good idea, either.
