    I don’t think they’re gong to offer this a second before they legally have to, which is march 2024 or potentially even later (the EU has in the past let deadlines slide if you show you’re working towards them).

    Also it’s going to be EU only, there’s no way Apple opens their golden goose anywhere else.

      Well I’m in the EU 😉

      The thing being that if they do it too late and regulators don’t like it, they will get a fine, so they need time to work out possible issues.

      I think realistically we are looking at Dec/Jan.

      I also think that there will be a way to bypass this restriction if you are somewhere else, unless they block it by SN, which is in itself also a possible door for fines.

      Once the can of worms is open, it’s showtime for everybody. I’m so looking forward to it.

        Ah, I thought I was still on Canada lemmy!

        I do hope things go well with side loading, I make a few of my own utility apps and it’s annoying to have to reinstall them every week I want to use them, and to be limited to three at a time.
