You… Sell things? I’m not even sure that’s legal, you most horde everything especially rare potions that would ease certain game bosses quite well.

See, the problem is—at least with some games, BG3 being the most recent example for me—that there are relatively few clear upgrades. Most of the time it’s a judgment call, and you’re trading one ability for another that you think will be useful more often. In those situations, I usually feel like I should hold onto the old gear, in case I end up wanting it again. So I end up carting around a fair bit of stuff, especially since I feel compelled to open every damn container in the game.

This. I’m always overencumbered because I too legit have to explore everything and look at everything. I may have like 200 hours in a game and been like 40% of the places because I’m too busy finding places to store junk.

This is so me actually. I can’t say exactly why but in some games using potions feel like cheating. Same with other temporary buff items lol

In modern games it’s more like finding 100 “Speak to X” entries in your journal and then futilely trying to remember what the fuck you are supposed to talk to them about because you acquired these quests 50 hours ago (often without any interaction from the player) and the game refuses to tell you. Bonus points when it’s actually a delivery stage for a fetch quest and when you find this NPC they just say “thanks bro for helping me out” and that’s it (last few BioWare games are especially guilty of that). And you have no idea what the hell did you do because it was so long ago.
