I’m not saying that it’s likely or that it would have any effects.

    Yes, he can.

But he won’t be, or he’ll be given a suspended sentence that will never be supervised.

Basically they had 4 years to get it done but acted far too slowly and now there’s not enough time before he’s a sitting president they won’t prosecute.

No, they’re asking about the case that did go through where he was found guilty of 34 felony convictions. The People of the State of New York v. Donald J. Trump

He was supposed to be sentenced in September. Trump’s defense asked to delay. Prosecution didn’t object. Judge didn’t want to stick his neck on the line and accepted the delay.

I have no idea what will happen now but probably nothing meaningful anymore. It should have happened in September. I don’t know why the prosecution didn’t fight the delay, but understand why the judge did what he did.

But yeah, I completely agree with your sentiment. The momentum into nailing Trump down on crimes happened way, way, *way *too slow.

Theoretically, yes he can. Under US law (if the justice system was working correctly at all), no individual is above the law.

However, it is very unlikely. Trump is stupidly popular amongst people willing to overturn the establishment to let him do whatever he wants. Not to mention that he has a favourable supreme court that can just choose not to prosecute him.

    No.

It’s over. Trump is never going to be held accountable for any of it. In a few years he’ll die peacefully in his bed like Kissinger did.

I projected three years ago that come the 2024 election it’s all going to dissolve into a nothing burger, regardless who wins, it was solely a dog and pony show to keep us divided and on edge. The same way that Hunter Biden suddenly is no longer discussed now that Biden is out of the race.

      They wrote. It down.

It may prove to not end in consequences, but they took notes on a criminal conspiracy before the outcome and it’s part of evidence submitted in federal court.

      Nothing burger is not nothing.

He should be sentenced if he is a sitting president. Eric Adams didn’t get a free pass for being in office and neither should the president because the president isn’t a fucking king.

He won’t be due to how shit our system is, or he would have been sentenced months ago like a normal person.

It is a universal axiom that any question starting with “Will Trump ever face consequences for…” can be answered with “no”.

If, instead of prison, Trump was faced with a free luxury mansion on a private island and a $1B/yr pension to live out the rest of his years Epstein style, Kamala may have had a chance. As soon as the alternative included a hint of repercussions for his actions, the universe simply could not allow it.

I want elections where the far right doesn’t get to say “we won” after detailing dozens of illegal things they’d do to secure the election while everyone else who is supposed to be in charge is just like “oh OK”. It’s not an unreasonable ask.

“A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny. And anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it.”

            Please watch her speech.

No, just a monarchy. As much as it pains me to say it, it’s actually not “tyrannic” because the electorate legitimately voted for it.

I almost wish Trump had actually lost and then stolen power. At least that would’ve made some sort of sense!

No. Fuck her. We put all our hope in to her and she utterly failed us all, even the cultists whether they’re smart enough to know it or not. At this point I wouldn’t piss on her if she were on fire.

I was upset when Kerry conceded, this is a whole other level. People are going to die that wouldn’t have otherwise and her cowardice at calling out the bullshit tactics the extremists said flat out they’d use to secure power places that at her feet. She didn’t even fucking try. Basis were burned, found in a fucking sewer. That isn’t democracy.

If you can’t see that you need to pay more attention.

Preach. Fuck Kamela. She’s just as responsible for the death of democracy as everyone who voted Trump, voted 3rd Party, or didn’t vote at all. She’s willing to just throw in the towel and let the country (and millions of Americans living in it) die. So fuck her.

Just came to say you’re a coward and an idiot. If you want change, run for elections or lead a direct action movement instead of insulting people actually trying. What bad logic are using to insult the person who ran and lost instead of the person who won and who is threatening to make everyone’s lives worse? again coward and an idiot

Oh no, of course he can’t. There’s decorum and precedent to consider! Best to give him free reign to do whatever the fuck he wants without fear of consequence or repercussion.
