Tbh I come from a 15min city and it is pretty great. My entire childhood I planned everything by bike, 15 min.

Walking to elementary school, cycling to highschool, going to different sports locations, cinema, train to the city, village to some friends, shopping at an organic market (conventional ones are very nearby).

This is a smaller city in Germany, peripheral to a large one. So nothing crazy really.

Every city I checked in the US on here extends its range to the whole county for some reason, making otherwise traversable cities dark red until you select them and see how it is incorporating areas not even associated with that city into consideration.

I see that is mentioned but it really hurts the usability of the site.

Unfortunately, the map counts the entire metropolitan area around the city as part of the city, instead of using the city boundaries itself.

Interestingly, CityNerd had the opposite problem when he did a video on city crime statistics.

It does make the broad global overview far less useful, but inspecting each individual city to see what areas are walkable and bikeable is still pretty cool, and could be helpful if deciding on a place to move to.
