Of all the things that the Republican party stands for, I honestly don’t understand child marriage.
I get it’s about control. But it’s really weird if you think about it. The loophole in their minds is that they can have sex after marriage. So, if they married a 9 year old girl (which according to the article is allowed in 3 states), the guy could fuck her.
I mean…how in the hell is that not rape by any other name?
Plus, it’s also the party of telling you how Muhammad was a rapist for having a child bride, as though that affects whether his followers deserve human rights.
Tbh I don’t think I’ve ever heard that point made by a Republican. Usually atheists say that, or people otherwise arguing for secular government; Republicans opposed both of the former.

Because spousal rape isn’t a thing to republicans, saying “I do” means you’re permanently giving your consent, so rape is unpossible.
