Maybe he was just a terrible shot and that was him aiming for center mass

It appears to have been done by a Republican too., which leads me to suspect that it’s one of the folks trying to start a race war.
Apparently there are people who register as Republican just so they can vote in the Republican primary since Democrats never win there. So this fact alone doesn’t really give much clue about motive.
