It has a different vibe from the recent outings - no more multiversal shenanigans, just good ol’ grounded superhero-ing. I’m excited for this.

This looks like a return to a different style that I’ve missed. I’m very ready for it.

Agree, I’m actually glad that the MCU can still diversify its outputs to different genres

It’s going to have Leader and Red Hulk, so I’m not sure how “grounded” it will be when released. But the trailer looks good so far. I have guesses about who Giancarlo Esposito will be, too, but I hope I’m wrong because I really like Tim Roth as Blonsky.

By this point of the MCU a radioactive-brain super genius and a radioactive-brawn President is grounded lol

Been watching too much The Boys lately and all I can see is A Train when he’s got the goggles on the goggles are too close in similarities.

This movie is fake… there’s no way a non supersoldier can fly at supersonic speeds with only goggles.

While you joke, that shit really is sort of stupid and has become so overused its cliche. Hollywood seems to think that breaking sound barrier is the only way to show their hero is flying really fast.

This looks really good. I hope they figure out the CGI for Red Hulk though, as he currently looks terrible.

Can’t imagine Ford’s face on Red Hulk. Would look weirder with a mustache too so I’m glad they addressed that right in the trailer.

I’ll answer, except for MCU his acting is sub-par. Specifically Altered Carbon, and some movie where he played an android that I couldn’t finish. I’d like another Falcon/Winter Soldier though.

    [off topic]

If they were looking to replace Steve Rogers, there are two superior candidates. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are both more powerful than Falcon.

Well they’re pretty much following the comics. in the comics Sam replaced Cap after Bucky replaced Cap. I.E. you can’t just slap on to anyone the role of Captain America without the blessings of Steve Rogers. They tried that already, and that’s how you got US Agent.

I’ve seen the Sam Wilson Captain America comics. On the other hand, Agatha Harkness, Baron Zemo, and Madam Web got changed around a lot.

All I’m saying is I’d rather see Kristen Ritter with the shield.

I have to say that I was not a fan of her performance as JJ. While there were some episodes that definitely showed her acting chops, she is not cut out to play a superhero IMO. Most of her actions scenes across the series were painful to watch.

Jessica had the will power to fight back from Killgrave.

Luke was sent to prison illegally and never became a villain.

Yes, and lots of heroes do heroic things (though the “he didn’t become a villain” thing is pretty… Out of place. Comes across super weird.).

That doesn’t mean they are all eligible for the mantle. It’s not pure strength, it’s not the ability to be a hero, it’s the type of hero they are that defines Captain America.

Steve Rogers retired when he went back in time to put back all the infinity gems.

Can’t tell you why there is a Red Hulk casue that would pretty much spoil everything for you. Basically if you’ve read the comics you already know what this movie is about just by the fact there is a Red Hulk therefore you know who is Red Hulk, you know HOW Red Hulk came to be, you know who was involved in that process, and based on the casting of this movie it’s easy to put the pieces together if you read the comics.

          spoilers:

          spoiler

Red Hulk is Thaddeus Ross, or in this case President Ross. Father of Betty Ross, Bruce Banners main love interest. Ross is also somenoe who has been hunting Banner/The Hulk for…well…since the Hulk became the Hulk. Red Hulk was created as part of a Super Soldier Program (ala Captain America) with the aid of Doc Samson and the organization known as Intelligencia which is headed up by The Leader and MODOK (Leader is in this movie). Ross became The Red Hulk in order to deal with Bruce Banner and to yet again try to establish new Super Soldiers which has been a long time running thing in the Marvel Universe because of what happend in WW2. Red Hulk, Wolverine, Deadpool, etc, etc, etc are all different versions of a Super Soldier program (In Canada called the Weapon program).

So having Red Hulk in a Captain America movie just makes sense. Also would help with introducing the upcoming Thunderbolts movie as Red Hulk/Ross is also involved with that team. Could also tie in with Deadpool as they were both in the Thunderbolts.
