Round 2
Three away wins last week, fat chance of that this week but 2 a possibility. Nobody quite expecting France to roll over so badly, did they flatter Ireland? Scotland grinding out the victory, bittersweet and maddening for both teams I suspect. And England building more steam in Rome, can it continue?
Scotland vs France
At Murrayfield myself today, and this could go either way. Been pishing it doon for at least 36 hours, so wet, slips, and who knows if it will let up? France without a few key players, and a not great recent record in Edinburgh says this one is the game to watch
England v Wales
After Wales remarkable turnaround last week they’ll be hoping to expose an England side that is going well, but has yet to be really tested since last years 6n (wherethey finished 4th). But Wales are still rebuilding. This one is always a cracker, but hard for me to call
Ireland v Italy
A forgone conclusion I’m sure, but will Italy continue to play wide and an attractive game at least? Ireland after the points of course, and tackling likely to be optional, could he a fun 70 point game here!
France looked awful for most of that game. They got out of jail free there.
Lol, epic fuckup, locked instead of pinning. A few beers deep now after being robbed (maybe!)
England winning ugly again though
There’s been enough ink spilled on the onvious talking points yesterday, but away from that apparently Aldritt’s injury was relativly minor - some stitches but no muscle/tendon/bones damaged, and he attended the post-match presser.
I saw the way he’d been pulled over the ruck, and the blood and what looked like bruising on his knee, and was worried that was season over for him, or worse.
one thing i will say about /that/ decision is that i was screaming for the ball being held up in the immediately preceeding play. Not had time to find the replay yet.
Have to say I’m finding this Ireland/Italy game is getting quite boring now …
The possibility of a grannying is keeping me watching
I’m just hoping (against hope) for an Italian consolation.
Edit: yeah - never really looked like happening.
Scotland were robbed there. That on field decision was a tough call but imo should have been a try after seeing it clearly move well away from the foot and to the ground on the tmo.
I really wanted Scotland to win and would’ve been delighted if it had been given, but I could only say with about 90% that it was grounded - not enough to overturn the on field decision.
I think everyone is pretty sure that it was a try, but the on-field decision was a no, and I’m happy to see that decision being the one that’s official, even if it is probably wrong. I wouldn’t be saying that if I were a Scotland fan though.
We saw it move to the ground, but it could have been dropped. We don’t know for sure.
I was rooting for France this time. That isn’t the way I want any game to end.
I know Ireland are ten or so positions aheae of Italy. But a nilling is a poor advert for the championship
Ireland scoreline about right. Hard to see Italy scoring anything this afternoon
