Police believe his ‘record’ of impaired driving offences is the most anyone in Canada has ever had.
Online news is so terrible these days… I have seen a handful of the same story, and I have yet to see any of them really comment on BC’s criminal justice system. How does anyone anywhere in this country get more than a few drunk driving convictions? I don’t know how far off the pulse I am, but shouldn’t someone get a life sentence after, say, 3 convictions? How many people want these sorts of people out in society who prove multiple times they will be a danger to everyone?
A life sentence feels like a lot… But we should be much more willing to permanently revoke licenses.
It does feel like a lot, but how many chances should be given to people who think driving around a loaded weapon while intoxicated is a good idea?
Driving is not a right, and I think if I knew someone kept getting out of jail and waving a loaded gun around at citizens wasn’t being taken seriously, I’d have a problem with that, too.
Do you believe this guy had a driver’s license, and him having it or not had anything to do with him driving?

Pretty sure in some provinces you get an (breathalyzer) ignition interlock put on your car after your second or third and it lasts a long time. If you bypass that or are still a hazard, license should be revoked.
Driving is a privilege, not a right.
