Not sure who “sources” are, but find new ones 🤔”
Maybe a little off topic, but RB contracts are going to be a hot topic this year.
I listened to Arian Foster’s position on it, and he’s adamant that RB’s are not plug and play, and it’s a high skill position. Being a 49er fan has pushed me slightly over the other side of that debate, but I have to remember, Shanahan’s scheme is special and not every team can run it successfully.
Either way, I think his point about getting rid of the franchise tag is legitimate, and they should get rid of it. Fuck the franchise tag.

I feel like the RB position really took a blow when Brock Purdy went down.
If the 49ers managed to win and advance to the Super Bowl with the league’s highest paid RB, and CMC made a big splash doing CMC things (and the Niners possibly winning the game), I think the offseason conversation about RB value might have gone differently.
Instead, we had a Super Bowl where both teams went cheap at the RB position, and none of the recent winners have had a top back. And that’s been brought up in pretty much every conversation about the current RB market. How much different would that narrative have been if the Super Bowl had been The CMC Show instead?
I don’t think so. CMC is an outlier. You can get guys in the draft or even undrafted.
