Health Canada is preparing new legislation to improve long-term care, and has launched an online portal to receive comments from the public.

But the Canadian Health Coalition is concerned the government’s approach to the Safe Long-Term Care Act is too weak to bring about the changes required to fix the troubled health care sector, such as enforcing national standards, phasing out for-profit investors, and ensuring accountability for funding.

My neighbors to the north, please do not allow this to happen in your country. US longterm care is understaffed, full of abuse and neglect, and majorly overpriced because of the lack of the regulations listed in the blurb.

But in our case, if it’s still overseen by the gov, we have a chance to start stepping back from that dystopian hell.

In America, if it’s part of the mercenary corporate care structure, I’m worried our best friends down there have almost NO recourse to get their final infrastructure fixed.
