Yes, I wasn’t planning on biking in the dark and didn’t have my lights with me. I agree with you! Lights - the only personal safety gear that can’t be replaced by infrastructure or driver behavior.
Thankfully my flashlight was in my pocket, so I used this to have some visibility at the rear. Always cover your rear first - you can predict what’s out front.
