If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s holding grudges. Especially when these decisions are at the expense of other people lives.

I would put the word democracy in air quotes. We’re purposefully not a democracy and never have been. There’s a reason why the presidency isn’t elected by the popular vote, and it’s because the wealthy class has and always will own this country.

Democracy is not only harmless to Capital but can be an incredibly useful tool for the suppression of revolutionary potential. Allowing the working class to vote, but not allowing any fundamental changes to the system, acts as a sort of pressure valve for the class struggle. The bourgeois is able to redirect the class struggle towards harmless ends through its institutions and through concessions and the like. Even though everyone is “equal” under the law, this is a complete ruse, as the bourgeoisie own the means of production and have disproportionate influence.

        It’s like that famous quote:

In its majestic equality, the law forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, beg in the streets and steal loaves of bread.

The point being that real political power comes from the ownership of Capital in bourgeois society, not voting.
