Incomplete list of aftermarket custom roms.
I am sorry but this list is… not-good. Includes problematic ROMs (Copperhead OS), dead projects (AOKP), and OEM closed-source ROMs (MIUI)
To anyone out there, my personal recommendation would be: if you own a Google Pixel, go for GrapheneOS or CalyxOS, if you do not have a Pixel phone, try LineageOS and derivates (I am personally running crDroid with microG instead of gapps)
I would also recommend DivestOS, soft fork of LineageOS that aims to increase security & privacy and can be installed on a lot of older devices.
Not bad, in my head it was included when i mentioned “LOS derivates”. but yeah. def a good choice.
…why is MicroG mentioned? It’s not a custom ROM, it’s a GApps replacement for custom roms.
Also, MIUI is not a public custom ROM, it’s the official one for Xiaomi’s devices, also it does feature bloatware, and I don’t think that it’s especially privacy-focussed either.
LineageOS for microG unofficial fork with built-in microG gapps implementation & full Google Play Services compatibility
So it’s LineageOS.
If you put Michelin tires on a Ferrari, and sell it in that configuration, then it doesn’t turn the tires themself into a sportscar.
It’s open source
So is ArchLinux, but it’s not on this list.
Why? Because it’s not relevant to the list.

What a terrible list…
For what its worth, I use GrapheneOS. Aside from some small issues with banking apps and a few odd quirks, I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.
I’m currently on Lineage on a Pixel 7, I’m tempted to give Graphene a go though.
As I had issues with one banking app on Lineage, I expect I’ll have problems with that one and possibly more if I make the change
Yeah, I’ve just flashed it yesterday. It’s amazing. You can keep most Pixel smarts while yeeting all the ad and tracking stuff. All my apps are working perfectly too unlike microG.
Yeah. Graphene is fantastic. I had forgotten how blazing fast interface and long battery life felt like before I switched.
