I’m still going to argue for time travel. Explains the advanced tech and the high secrecy.
I’m not naive enough to think we’re the only intelligent life in the universe, but I’m also not naive enough to think that any race capable of getting out to the ass end of space where we live would find anything remotely interesting here.
I’ve always kept that idea in the back of my mind, though I stay open to all possibilities. When it comes down to it there’s a strong chance of manipulation of both space and time to get to us and that opens up a lot of potential. From there it’s a matter of why anyone/anything would go through such feats to be here. Time travel would definitely account for how they found us and why they’d want to be here.
