      I still haven’t decided if I think this is a good thing or a bad thing. On one hand, I love this community, but on the other, I think part of what makes it so great is that it is, or was, a community you had to go out of your way to understand and interact with. Now that we’re on Lemmy, a larger portion of the userbase for 196 is divorced from the actual culture that makes it what it is.

        I don’t think it’s actually that far divorced yet. Remember that Lemmy’s userbase has been predominantly left-leaning/queer/etc. A large portion of users who moved to Lemmy were probably part of 196’s culture on reddit. The posts I see doing well on 196 are the same style as the ones that did well on reddit.

        It’s possible that an avalanche of users takes over the culture, but so far it hasn’t happened. As long as we gain users slowly we can brainwash them into being boykissers.
