If you have ever seen something you wish you hadn’t on Lemmy, now you can filter those posts using this userscript.

To install it you only need a userscript manager extension like any of the following:

  • Violentmonkey: Chrome | Firefox -> Open source userscript manager extension.
  • Tampermonkey: Chrome | Firefox -> One of the most popular userscript managers, but is not open source.

…Then you just go to the script link and install it:

The userscript also has some extra features like enabling you to mark you posts as NSFW by default even if your instance doesn’t offer the option, unblur NSFW thumbnails, auto open media post previews, and fix some broken video previews (ever seen one of those “videos” with the green circle play icon?).

The filtering works by checking any words you add to the filter against the title of the posts so that they get hidden if it contains it.

So if for example you didn’t want to see anything related to reddit, you could block “reddit”.

The filter also supports regex, so you can do some more advanced filters as well.
