How confederates modern confederate apologists think the civil war started

The confederates themselves knew damn well that it was about slavery, and wrote as much into their declarations of secession.

My high school teacher told us it was “state’s rights.” Like, went out of his way to say it wasn’t slavery. I looked it up to confirm it and of course it wasn’t true, it was absolutely about slavery. I googled damn near everything he told us after that.

A pattern which seems to repeat itself many times: An accusation proves to be, in reality, a confession.
