The General Services Administration on Friday announced an updated weighting of criteria for choosing a location for a new FBI headquarters, which appears to help Maryland in its competition with Virginia.

The weights for the acceptance criteria have been adjusted:

  • Lowered weight on proximity to existing facilities reduces VA’s advantage
  • Increased weight on sustainable siting and advancing equity favors MD
  • Increased weight on providing more economic benefit favors a PG County location
