    This may seem silly or naive, but I appreciate the candid conversation they’re trying to have. They’re obviously not going to get them to stop entirely, so trying to communicate and negotiate as affected people makes sense

      That is legitimately how a lot of criminal gangs operate. They wage wars with each other in the night and usually avoid messing with civilians. These groups tend to have a bit of a Messiah complex and try to portray themselves as heroes that will protect civilians from other groups, the government or whatever other threat. It’s very common with narco cartels as well.

    All it’s going to take is one drill rapper to say something to the effect of “ion give a fuck bout no ceasefire, I let off headshots at 9am” “leave the opps brains in their cereal bowl, while they momma cooking bacon” and the violence will be back on the same level.

    Edit: this was insensitive and incorrect. I’m still processing emotions from news of a young relative of mine essentially catching a life sentence because of gangbanging. My bad y’all.

      Yeah, because drill rap is the main cause for gang violence, not poverty, alienation and systemic discrimination 🙄
